News - Motherhood at the centre of the last video catechesis of the 10th World Meeting of Families
One can be a mother "in the flesh," after giving birth to a child. And one can be a mother in the spirit, welcoming, capable of giving of oneself, of caring. Viviana is one in both senses, because in addition to the children she had with her husband, she decided to open the doors of her home to mother Zhanna, who fled Lviv because of the war, and her 5-year-old son David. "There are many ways to become a mother," Viviana reflects. "The thing I realized is that if the Lord made us different, men and women, it is because this specificity of motherhood we are called to live it to the fullest. And the real women I met somehow lived this motherhood to the fullest. With one, two, five or no children."
Telling their story is director Antonio Antonelli in the short film "Discovering Motherhood," prepared for the 10th World Meeting of Families. The video is interesting food for thought regarding the catechesis "Fathers and Mothers," among the preparatory materials for the event.
"Every time a father and mother welcome a life and cherish it, every time they forgive each other and resume their journey, they bring Heaven to earth. For at that moment it is the Holy Spirit who acts in them." This is what we read in the catechesis and this is the small miracle that Mother Viviana performed: a brought a new Heaven on the heads of Zhanna and David.
